Government Announces Updates to Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025

A new regulation has been introduced to simplify the registration process for foreign nationals in India. This provision replaces the prior requirement that mandated individuals to register “within fourteen days after the expiry of one hundred and eighty days of arrival in India.”

Under the previous rule, foreign nationals were required to apply for registration after remaining in the country for six months without a valid visa. The new provisions aim to enhance the efficiency of the registration process and ease the administrative burden on foreign visitors.

Further details regarding the exact nature of the changes and their implementation timeline have yet to be released by the authorities. This update is part of ongoing efforts to streamline immigration processes and improve the experience for foreign nationals traveling to India.
