Cabinet Approves ₹2,169-Crore Ahmedabad Metro Airport Corridor Expansion

The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 2A of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, which encompasses a 6.032-kilometer corridor with an estimated cost of ₹2,169.04 crore. This extension will connect Koteshwar Road to Ahmedabad Airport and includes the construction of five new stations. With this addition, the total length of the Ahmedabad Metro network will reach 77.63 kilometers.

The development of this metro corridor aims to enhance urban mobility and connectivity within the city, facilitating easier access to major hubs, including the airport. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to support upcoming sports events by improving transit options for attendees. In addition to enhancing infrastructure, the Phase 2A expansion is projected to create a substantial number of job opportunities, contributing to the local economy and the overall growth of the region.

This strategic investment in public transportation is part of a broader initiative to modernize urban infrastructure and promote sustainable transit solutions in urban areas across India.
