Adani Enterprises and NTPC Lead Bidders for Governments ₹37,500 Crore Coal Gasification Scheme

The Indian government has announced that seven applications have been received for its ambitious ₹37,500 crore coal gasification scheme, aimed at enhancing the countrys energy security and promoting cleaner energy alternatives. Leading the list of applicants are Adani Enterprises and NTPC Limited, both of which are major players in Indias energy sector.

Coal gasification is a process that converts coal into synthetic natural gas, streamlining energy production and reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional coal usage. This method can also contribute to the production of hydrogen fuel and other by-products, aligning with India’s goals for sustainable development and energy transition.

Other notable applicants in this initial round include several private and public enterprises, showcasing a significant interest in developing coal gasification infrastructure in India.
