Restoration of Century-Old Library in Kerala Underway

The Sree Chitra Thirunal Grandhasala, located in Thiruvananthapuram, India, serves as a significant cultural and educational resource, housing an extensive collection of approximately 200,000 rare books, historical manuals, magazines, and other out-of-print publications. This repository aims to preserve literary works and documents that have become obscure over time, offering valuable insights into various subjects, including history, culture, and science.

Founded in honor of Maharaja Sree Chitra Thirunal Balarama Varma, the library not only aims to safeguard these texts but also to promote research and interest in lesser-known literary works. The Grandhasala is open to scholars, researchers, and the general public, providing a space for learning and exploration. In addition to its physical collection, the library is also taking steps towards digitization to ensure greater accessibility to its vast wealth of knowledge for future generations.
