Tamil Nadu Government Reassigns 10 IAS Officers

V.P. Jeyaseelan has been appointed as the new Director of Tourism for Tamil Nadu following his transfer from the Greater Chennai Corporation, where he served as the Joint Commissioner of Health. He succeeds M.S. Shanmugam, who is set to retire on June 30, 2023, after a distinguished career in public service.

In his new role, Jeyaseelan will oversee various initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism in the state, which is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and natural beauty. As Director of Tourism, he is expected to implement strategies to attract more visitors to Tamil Nadu and promote sustainable tourism practices. Jeyaseelans background in health administration may also provide valuable insights into ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists, especially in the post-pandemic landscape.
