Government Advises Accessing Piped Gas to Avoid LPG Supply Disruptions

The Indian government has issued a directive stating that households in areas where piped natural gas (PNG) is available must opt for PNG connections, or they risk a reduction in their liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply. This policy aims to encourage the adoption of a more environmentally friendly and efficient fuel source.

The announcement follows a broader initiative to promote cleaner energy alternatives across the country, in line with Indias commitment to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy security. The switch from LPG to PNG is expected to not only lower household energy costs but also decrease the reliance on fuel that contributes to air pollution.

According to government sources, cities with existing PNG infrastructure will be prioritized for this measure. Residents are encouraged to check the availability of PNG in their areas and apply for the connection to ensure a continuous supply of gas for cooking and other energy needs.

The transition to PNG is considered a long-term strategy that aligns with the governments objectives to promote sustainable development and improve public health through reduced emissions.
