Kozhikodes Upland Regions Experience Water Supply Challenges

Environmentalists and leaders of farmers organizations have raised concerns regarding the neglect of at least two small-scale projects that possess significant potential for revitalization. These projects, they argue, have been overlooked in more than 70 gram panchayats throughout the district.

The leaders emphasize that the revival of these initiatives could not only enhance local agricultural productivity but also promote sustainable environmental practices. The projects, which are believed to have been beneficial in the past, could contribute to job creation and improve the livelihoods of local communities.

In response to these claims, local government officials have stated that they are reviewing ongoing projects and exploring opportunities for support in the region. Community members are encouraged to engage with officials to discuss potential restoration plans, and efforts are being made to incorporate local feedback into future development strategies.
