CISF to Increase Presence at Five Additional Prisons in Jammu and Kashmir
The Indian government has announced the establishment of a new high-security prison in Kathua, alongside the construction of four additional district jails. This initiative aims to enhance the capacity and security of the prison system in the region, addressing the growing need for correctional facilities.
Furthermore, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is implementing technological upgrades at various central jails across the country. These upgrades include the installation of AI-enabled CCTV systems and advanced video analytics, which will allow for real-time monitoring of inmates and potentially improve safety within the facilities. This initiative reflects a broader trend towards adopting innovative technologies in correctional environments to enhance security and operational efficiency.
The new facilities and technological advancements are part of ongoing efforts by the Indian government to reform and modernize the country’s prison system, ensuring it can adequately address current challenges while maintaining the safety of both inmates and the surrounding communities.
