Assam Adds Tea Land Holdings to Farmers’ Registry Portal
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced the launch of a new facility aimed at supporting small tea growers in Assam. He highlighted that this initiative is expected to significantly benefit thousands of local tea producers by enhancing their productivity and providing better access to resources.
The facility is part of a broader effort by the government to strengthen the tea industry, which is a vital component of Assams economy. The state is renowned for its tea production, contributing around 50% of India’s total tea output. Small tea growers, who often face challenges such as limited access to technology and markets, will now have the opportunity to improve their cultivation practices and increase their earnings.
Sarma emphasized that this initiative is designed to empower small-scale farmers by providing them with the tools and support necessary to thrive in a competitive market. The government plans to implement additional programs aimed at further developing the infrastructure and marketing strategies for Assams tea industry in the coming years.
