Efforts Underway to Re-enroll 1,747 Out-of-School Children in Yadgir via NIOS Mitra Initiative

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has launched an initiative called “NIOS Mitra,” which aims to enhance community outreach through the use of technology. This program is specifically designed to identify, counsel, and facilitate the enrollment of out-of-school children (OoSCs) into the formal education system, with a particular focus on young individuals aged 14 to 18.

The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education’s broader objectives of promoting inclusive education and increasing access to schooling for marginalized groups. By leveraging technology, NIOS Mitra seeks to reach and support those who have been disengaged from the traditional educational framework.

The program will employ various strategies, including counseling sessions, community awareness campaigns, and the use of digital platforms to ensure that potential students and their families are well-informed about educational opportunities available to them. This includes providing information on flexible learning options offered by NIOS, which allows students to complete their secondary and senior secondary education in a more adaptable manner.

The NIOS Mitra initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Indian government to reduce the number of out-of-school children and improve overall educational enrollment rates, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
