Net Profit Declines 22% to ₹20,946 Crore in Q1, While EBITDA Increases by 11%
Reliance Industries Reports Mixed Q1 Earnings: Net Profit Declines, Revenue Increases
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2023-24, reporting a net profit decline of 22% to ₹20,946 crore compared to the previous years results. Despite the downturn in net profit, the companys Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) rose by 11%, indicating stronger operational performance.
In a slight contrast, another report indicated that RILs profit for the quarter came in at ₹23,001 crore, bolstered by a robust increase in refining margins and significant growth from its telecommunications sector, Jio. The revenue from operations also saw a 25% increase, driven by a strong demand environment and rising commodity prices, culminating in revenues exceeding ₹2 trillion for the Quarter.
Additionally, RIL’s Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) segment reported significant growth, with revenues jumping 30% to over ₹2 trillion, reflecting increased crude prices which are impacting the overall dynamics of the oil market.
These results highlight a complex financial landscape for Reliance Industries, balancing a decrease in net profit with growth in key operational metrics. Analysts remain cautiously optimistic about the companys future performance given the positive trends observed in specific segments.
As of now, RIL continues to navigate the uncertainties of the global market while focusing on expanding its presence in various sectors, particularly digital services and renewable energy solutions.
