Punjab National Bank reports 213% increase in Q1FY27 net profit to Rs 5,253 crore.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) announced a significant increase in its standalone net profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, with a year-on-year growth exceeding 200%. This robust performance was mainly attributed to a notable reduction in the banks tax liabilities, which contributed to the overall profit surge.

However, the bank also reported a decrease in non-interest income, which may have influenced its total operating income. Despite this, PNB highlighted an improvement in asset quality, marked by a considerable decline in both gross and net non-performing assets (NPAs), reflecting a strengthening of its loan portfolio and credit management efforts.

In light of these results, PNB continues to focus on strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer engagement. The bank’s improved asset quality indicates a positive trend in its risk management practices, which could bolster confidence among investors and stakeholders going forward.
