China Issues Red Alert as Typhoon Dolphin Makes Landfall

China has issued a red alert as Typhoon Dolphin, the strongest tropical storm of the year, made landfall on its eastern coast. Authorities reported significant winds and heavy rainfall associated with the storm, which prompted emergency responses across several provinces.

As Typhoon Dolphin approached, more than one million residents were evacuated from coastal areas, particularly in regions at highest risk of flooding and landslides. The storms intensity required cities such as Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to take proactive measures, including the cancellation of over 1,300 flights at Shanghais airports.

In addition to the severe disruptions in mainland China, parts of southern Japan, particularly Okinawa, also experienced significant impacts from the storm. Local authorities closed the airport and advised residents to take precautions.

Meteorologists forecast that Typhoon Dolphin will continue to affect large areas as it moves inland, with heavy rains expected to persist, raising concerns about flooding and infrastructure damage. Emergency services are on high alert, and recovery plans are being put into place to address any aftermath of the storm once it passes.
