A sixth-grade student from Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, Mai Ngoc Duy, recently overcame significant health challenges to participate in the AIMO 2026 International Mathematical Olympiad final. Just three days prior to the competition, Duy was hospitalized due to an illness. Despite this setback, he demonstrated remarkable determination by seeking medical clearance to compete.

After receiving approval from his doctors, Duys family transported him to Hanoi, where he successfully completed the rigorous exam before returning to the hospital for further care. His efforts culminated in a commendable achievement; he was awarded a silver medal in the competition, highlighting both his resilience and academic prowess.
