Student Rejects Job Offer, Takes Gap Year, and Secures Higher Salary Opportunity from Top Company

In a noteworthy academic journey, an Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) graduate from CVR College of Engineering in Hyderabad opted to reject a job offer of ₹4 lakh per annum (LPA) in a non-technical field to pursue a postgraduate degree through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Despite initial pressure from his family to accept the job, he chose to dedicate his time to preparing for GATE.

Demonstrating a commitment to his goals, he prepared full-time at the OHM Institute, ultimately achieving a commendable State Rank of 13 in the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). This success garnered the support of his father, reinforcing his decision to focus on further academic pursuits.

His hard work paid off when he secured an All-India Rank (AIR) of 1200 in the GATE examination. As a result, he was admitted to the prestigious M.Tech program in Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. Following his academic tenure, he successfully landed a placement with Qualcomm, where he was offered a competitive compensation package of ₹30 LPA, highlighting the potential rewards of dedication and strategic planning in one’s career path.
