Supreme Court declines plea to make nucleic acid tests compulsory at blood banks

Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C has been shown to be more accurate, though it comes at a higher cost compared to other testing methods. A petitioner has sought to ensure the protection of thalassemia patients, who require regular blood transfusions and are at increased risk of exposure to infected blood.
