NTA to Reconduct UGC-NET for English, Sociology, and Commerce Papers Due to Audit Findings

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that it will reconduct the UGC-NET examinations for the subjects of English, Sociology, and Commerce after investigations revealed factual and translation errors in the question papers. The decision is a response to complaints raised by students and stakeholders regarding the integrity of the examination process.

An audit conducted by the NTA identified multiple discrepancies, including typographical errors such as the incorrect spelling of names in reference to prominent theorists, which sparked concerns about the reliability of the tests. For example, inconsistencies such as “Putzer for Ritzer” and “Parsow for Parsons” were flagged as significant issues that could confuse test-takers.

The UGC-NET, or the University Grants Commission’s National Eligibility Test, is a crucial examination for candidates seeking to qualify for assistant professorships and junior research fellowships in Indian universities.

In addition to this announcement, the NTA has also released the answer keys for a total of 84 subjects that were part of the previous examinations. Candidates will have the opportunity to review these answer keys to assess their performance prior to the reconducted tests.
