Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Launches New Scheme; Check Eligibility and Guidelines for 1 Gram Assistance

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Launches Thai Maman Thanga Mothiram Scheme for Women

In a recent initiative aimed at supporting women in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially launched the Thai Maman Thanga Mothiram scheme. This program is designed to provide financial assistance to women by offering them a gold ring weighing one gram upon the birth of their girl child.

Eligibility for the scheme includes families living below the poverty line who have delivered a baby girl after January 1, 2023. To apply for the benefit, parents must present the birth certificate of the newborn, along with proof of residence and family income.

The scheme is part of the Tamil Nadu governments broader efforts to address gender inequality and encourage the birth of girl children in the state. Tamil Nadu has implemented similar initiatives in the past, including financial incentives for families with female children, to promote social change and reduce the stigma associated with having daughters.

Applications can be made through designated government offices, and further details regarding the application process, eligibility criteria, and benefits can be found on the official Tamil Nadu government website. This initiative is expected to not only enhance the socio-economic status of families but also empower women by recognizing their value within society.
