Railway Minister Announces Successful Speed Test of Vande Bharat Express

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced today that the Vande Bharat Express, designated as Train No. 26401/26404, successfully completed a speed test of 100 kilometers per hour (km/h). This milestone represents a significant achievement for Indian Railways as the train traversed two of the most notable engineering landmarks in the country.

The test included crossing the Chenab Bridge, recognized as the highest railway bridge in the world, which stands at an impressive height of 359 meters above ground level. In addition, the train also navigated the Anji Khad Bridge, Indias first cable-stayed railway bridge, showcasing advanced engineering and design techniques.

These developments come in line with efforts to enhance the speed and efficiency of rail travel in India, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce travel times across the nation. The Vande Bharat Express series has been touted for its contributions to modernizing the railway network and is a key component of Indias transportation strategy.

Looking ahead, Indian Railways plans to implement further upgrades and trials to increase the operational capabilities of the Vande Bharat Express, including improvements in technology and service efficiency, to serve passengers better and promote sustainable travel options.
