Centres Position on AIIMS for Kerala Remains Unclear

In a recent session of the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of Health responded to inquiries from Members of Parliament Kodikunnil Suresh and Adoor Prakash regarding the proposed establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kerala. The Minister confirmed that the proposal has not yet been approved by the government.

While he acknowledged the interest in setting up an AIIMS in the state, he did not provide a specific timeline for when such approval might be granted, leaving the future of this initiative uncertain.

AIIMS institutions are part of a nationwide initiative to enhance healthcare services and are expected to significantly improve medical education and research. As of now, the state of Kerala continues to advocate for better healthcare infrastructure, and the approval of an AIIMS has been a longstanding demand from local representatives and citizens alike. Further discussions on this topic may be expected in upcoming parliamentary sessions.
