Congress Challenges PM Modi to Hold Elections by Ballot Paper to Prove BJPs Electoral Prowess

In a recent statement, the Congress party has challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prove the Bharatiya Janata Partys (BJP) electoral strength by conducting elections using ballot papers instead of electronic voting machines (EVMs). The call for a shift to traditional ballot voting comes amid ongoing concerns and debates regarding the integrity and transparency of EVMs used in Indian elections.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera emphasized that a return to ballot papers would allow for a fairer and more transparent electoral process. He argued that this method would help restore public confidence in the electoral system, which he claims has been undermined by allegations of manipulation and irregularities associated with the use of EVMs.

Khera further stated that the time has come for the BJP to “walk the talk” and demonstrate its confidence in its own electoral resources by embracing the more traditional voting method. This challenge is framed in the context of the upcoming elections, as Congress aims to mobilize its base and raise issues concerning electoral integrity leading up to the polls.

The proposal has sparked discussions among various political circles, with supporters of EVMs defending their use as a modern and efficient way to conduct elections. They argue that technological advancements are essential for ensuring prompt and accurate election results, thus facilitating timely governance.

As the political landscape in India continues to evolve, this challenge from Congress reflects the broader conversation around electoral reform and the importance of voter trust in the democratic process.
