Protests and Shutdown in Ladakh Amid Calls for Statehood and Implementation of Sixth Schedule
Hundreds of residents participated in a march from Singay Namgyal Chowk to Leh Polo Ground in Leh town, while a rally in Kargil town drew significant attendance, also consisting of hundreds of local participants. This mobilization occurred following the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk from jail. The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and the Leh Apex Body (LAB) had previously called for a shutdown in Ladakh on March 16.
