Andhra Pradesh Government to Introduce QR-Coded Rice Bags for Transparency and Farmer Recognition

The Food and Civil Supplies Minister has announced that rice sourced from the SPSR Nellore district will be distributed to 41,000 schools and 400 hostels across the state. An innovative QR code system will be implemented on the rice packages, allowing recipients to access information about the cultivators name and the geographical origin of the rice.

In addition to this initiative, the state government has set an ambitious target of procuring 51 lakh tonnes of paddy during the current Kharif season. This procurement aims to bolster food security in the region and support local farmers by ensuring a fair price for their produce. The introduction of QR codes is expected to enhance transparency and traceability in the food supply chain, promoting consumer awareness regarding the source of their food.
