A.P. Implements Required Disability Screening for All Students

The screening of children for various disabilities will be carried out using ‘Prashast 2.0,’ an enhanced application designed to assess 21 different types of disabilities. This initiative, which falls under the purview of the Central Ministry of Education, is set to be implemented for the academic year 2026-27. According to the Samagra Shiksha State Project Director, the application aims to provide a systematic approach to identify and support children with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate interventions and resources.

The initiative reflects the Indian governments commitment to inclusivity in education, aligning with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, which emphasizes the right to education for all children, regardless of their physical or mental challenges. The enhanced app is expected to streamline the process of disability identification and facilitate better planning and support for affected students in the educational system.
