Air India Express Flight Returns to Kochi Due to Engine Oil Warning

An Air India Express flight bound for Abu Dhabi was forced to turn back to Kochi International Airport shortly after takeoff due to a critical alert regarding engine oil levels. The flight, designated IX 415, took off from Kochi at approximately 4:30 PM but experienced a drop in oil pressure approximately 50 minutes into the flight, prompting the crew to take precautionary measures.

According to reports, the aircraft reached an altitude of 36,000 feet before the crew received warnings indicating that oil levels for one of the engines had dropped to a dangerous zone. The pilots decided to shut down the affected engine as a safety protocol. Subsequently, the aircraft landed safely back in Kochi approximately an hour after departure.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India that primarily operates Gulf routes, has reported that all 162 passengers on board were unharmed and have since been accommodated on alternate flights to their destination. The airline is currently investigating the cause of the oil pressure drop.
