The Adani Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Holding Company (IHC) of the United Arab Emirates to establish a significant aluminium manufacturing facility in Odisha, India. The project is estimated to have an investment of approximately $11.5 billion (₹1.08 lakh crore) and aims to bolster the production capacity of aluminium in India.
This partnership is seen as a strategic move, as it aligns with Indias Vision 2030, aimed at enhancing local manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports. The aluminium plant is expected to create thousands of jobs in the region, contributing to the local economy and providing a sustainable source of employment.
Karan Adani, CEO of Adani Enterprises, noted that Odisha is viewed as a critical region for driving economic growth in Eastern India. He highlighted the states rich mineral resources and favorable business environment as key factors in the decision to invest in the area.
The move comes at a time when the demand for aluminium is increasing, driven by sectors such as automotive, construction, and renewable energy. The collaboration between Adani Group and IHC is anticipated to enhance the global competitiveness of Indias aluminium industry.
