AIADMK Leader C.Ve. Shanmugam Alleges Edappadi Palaniswami is Stifling Dissent

In a recent statement, party member Mr. Shanmugam raised concerns over the direction of the AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) party, suggesting that it is increasingly becoming dominated by a single family. He specifically criticized Mr. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, alleging that he is orchestrating a “drama” to pave the way for his sons integration into the partys leadership.

Furthermore, Mr. Shanmugam also remarked on the performance of the AIADMK in the 2026 Assembly elections, asserting that the party’s success in securing 31 out of 41 Assembly seats was not a straightforward achievement but rather a result of “alms” provided by the PMK (Pattali Makkal Katchi).

The AIADMK, a prominent regional political party in Tamil Nadu, has faced internal challenges and criticisms regarding its leadership dynamics and alliances, particularly in the context of upcoming electoral strategies and party cohesion. The partys ability to maintain its influence in Tamil Nadu politics may be tested in the wake of these assertions and the publics perception of its leadership.
