AIIMS Study Highlights Benefits of Regular Yoga for Healthy Aging
As the global elderly population continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, prioritizing healthy aging has become essential for public health, according to a professor from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The professor highlighted that the demographic shift towards an older population poses significant challenges for health systems and social services worldwide. With projections indicating that by 2050, the number of people aged 60 and above will reach 2.1 billion, it is crucial to implement strategies that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being among older adults.
In light of this, public health policies must focus on enhancing access to healthcare, promoting active lifestyles, and ensuring social inclusion for seniors. This shift towards healthy aging not only improves quality of life but also reduces the burden on healthcare systems by preventing chronic diseases typically associated with advanced age.
Experts in gerontology emphasize the importance of community engagement, supportive environments, and tailored healthcare solutions to meet the diverse needs of older individuals. As nations grapple with this demographic transition, collaborative efforts between governments, non-profits, and healthcare providers are essential to create sustainable frameworks that support the health and well-being of the aging population.
