Air India and IndiGo discontinue over 100 daily domestic flights each

Air India is currently operating approximately 500 flights daily. A reduction of 22% in its flight operations would result in the withdrawal of about 110 flights. Similarly, IndiGo, which operates nearly 2,200 flights each day, would see a reduction of around 110 flights with a 5% decrease in its operations.

This potential reduction in flights could be influenced by several factors, including operational challenges, demand fluctuations, or strategic adjustments in response to market conditions. The aviation industry has experienced significant impacts due to recent global events, including the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, rising fuel costs, and evolving traveller preferences.

Air India, a major player in Indias aviation sector, has been working to expand its route network and improve service quality as part of its revitalization plan following its privatization. IndiGo, the largest airline in India by market share, has focused on maintaining its competitive edge by optimizing its operational efficiency and expanding its fleet.

Both airlines are closely monitoring demand trends and regulatory guidance, which will play a critical role in their operational decisions moving forward.
