Amit Shah Introduces New FCRA Portal and Electronic OCI Card
The Union Home Minister announced the launch of a new online portal designed to enhance the monitoring of foreign contributions to India. This initiative aims to streamline the process by eliminating the need for physical submission of documents, thereby improving efficiency and transparency in handling these contributions.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the introduction of the electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) card, which is expected to greatly benefit over 5 million OCI cardholders. The new e-OCI card will provide greater convenience and ease of access for individuals holding OCI status, facilitating quicker processing and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
The move comes as part of the governments broader strategy to modernize administrative processes and strengthen the regulatory framework surrounding foreign funding and OCI services. This digital transition aligns with global trends towards embracing technology in governance.
