Amit Shah: Modi Administration Transforms Northeast into an Opportunity Hub

During the 73rd plenary session of the North Eastern Council held in Shillong, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of prioritizing citizens rights over mere law and order concerns. His remarks come ahead of a scheduled meeting in Tripura where Chief Ministers from the northeastern states will review border security between India and Bangladesh.

Minister Shah noted that the region has experienced a significant decline in insurgent activities, allowing government leaders to redirect their focus towards protecting the rights and well-being of local communities. He urged state leaders to enhance collaboration and strategies aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens living near the border.

This plenary session represents a crucial platform for discussing developmental initiatives and security arrangements in the northeastern states, which are strategically important due to their geographical proximity to international borders and diverse socio-political contexts. The meeting also serves to strengthen inter-state cooperation and address challenges such as smuggling and cross-border crime, thereby fostering a more secure environment for residents in the region.
