Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approves Increased Benefits for Families Displaced by Polavaram Project
The government has approved an increase in the unit cost for house construction, raising it from ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.57 lakh. This adjustment is aimed at addressing rising material costs and improving construction standards.
Additionally, the government has revised the budget for the modernization of the Punganur branch canal, setting it at ₹309 crore. This initiative is expected to improve irrigation and water management in the region, thereby supporting local agriculture.
Further, an allocation of 350 acres has been designated in Puttaparthi for the establishment of a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) defence manufacturing unit, which aims to bolster the local economy and create job opportunities in the defence sector.
Moreover, a substantial infrastructure investment of ₹1,586 crore has been approved for the development of three fishing harbours. This funding is anticipated to enhance facilities for local fishermen, promote sustainable fishing practices, and stimulate economic growth in coastal communities.
