Another Government Employee Dismissed Amid Allegations of Terrorism Links in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmirs Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has commenced the termination of employees following amendments to Article 311 of the Indian Constitution, which were enacted in 2020. The revised provisions permit the dismissal of employees without the need for a departmental inquiry, streamlining the process for administrative actions against government staff.

Since the implementation of these amendments, approximately 86 employees have been terminated from service. The move is part of broader efforts by the Union Territory administration to enhance accountability and efficiency within government ranks. Officials have indicated that the terminations are primarily policy-related and aim to ensure that government employees meet the requisite standards of conduct.

These changes have sparked discussions around employee rights and the balance between administrative efficiency and due process in job security. The implications of these amendments are still being assessed, and stakeholders in the region—including labor unions and legal experts—are monitoring the situation closely.
