Army Chief Dwivedi Describes Operation Sindoor as a Comprehensive Example of Smart Power
During a seminar held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, General Upendra Dwivedi discussed Indias approach to the concept of “smart power,” describing the nations efforts as a “partial answer” to this complex issue. Smart power generally refers to the strategic use of both hard and soft power to achieve foreign policy objectives.
General Dwivedis comments come at a time when global relations are increasingly influenced by multifaceted power dynamics. He highlighted that over the past year, India has made strides in integrating its military capabilities with diplomatic initiatives, aiming to enhance its influence on the world stage. This includes efforts in defense partnerships, economic collaborations, and cultural exchanges.
The seminar gathered various stakeholders, including defense experts, policymakers, and academics, to explore the evolving nature of international relations and Indias role in it. There is a growing recognition of the need for countries to navigate both traditional military strength and innovative soft-power initiatives, particularly in dynamically changing geopolitical environments.
