Assembly Elections 2026: Abhishek Banerjee Invites BJP to Contest from Falta
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has issued a robust counter to statements made by BJP leader Amit Malviya regarding the Election Commission of Indias (ECI) decision to mandate re-polling in the Falta Assembly constituency. Banerjee characterized Malviyas critique as an indication that the “Diamond Harbour model is crumbling,” suggesting that the BJP is struggling to gain ground in West Bengal.
The ECIs directive for fresh polling comes in response to allegations of irregularities during the original voting process in Falta. This constituency has been a focal point of political contention between the TMC and BJP, particularly given its strategic significance in West Bengals electoral landscape.
In his remarks, Banerjee emphasized the TMCs commitment to a fair electoral process, asserting that the party has consistently upheld democratic values. As the political climate intensifies with the approach of upcoming elections, both parties are expected to ramp up their campaigns, which may include heightened scrutiny of electoral procedures and voter engagement efforts.
The Falta Assembly constituency, located in the South 24 Parganas district, is a key area for both TMC and BJP, with voters playing a critical role in shaping the future political dynamics of West Bengal.
