Bhatti Celebrates Three Years of Padayatra, Highlights Congresss Commitment to People-Centric Governance and Government Accessibility

In an exclusive interview with The Hindu, Telanganas Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu discusses the impact of the People’s March (Padayatra) he initiated on March 16, 2023. The march began at Pippiri village in the Boath constituency of Adilabad district and stretched 1,364 kilometers, reaching 37 assembly constituencies. This extensive journey aimed to strengthen connections between the government and citizens, thereby establishing the groundwork for the Praja Palana (People’s Governance) model.

Mr. Bhatti emphasized the significance of the mass contact initiative in facilitating direct communication with the populace. He elaborated on how commitments made during the march regarding essential sectors such as housing, agriculture, education, employment, and irrigation are being addressed. Furthermore, he highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Six Guarantees, a set of welfare initiatives designed to enhance social well-being, despite the fiscal challenges the government is currently facing.

The Deputy Chief Ministers remarks come as the Congress government in Telangana completes two and a half years in office, during which it has prioritized citizen engagement and welfare programs aimed at bolstering the state’s development. The Praja Palana initiative reflects the governments commitment to listening to the needs of its citizens and responding effectively to their demands.
