Bhumi Pednekar Calls for Support for Assam Amid Flood Crisis; State Leaders Respond

Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has publicly urged for assistance for Assam, which is currently grappling with serious flooding. In a recent statement, Pednekar highlighted the urgent need for support as many communities face significant challenges due to the rising waters.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude for Pednekars support. He noted that the floods have severely impacted approximately 6.5 lakh residents, emphasizing the urgent assistance required for these affected individuals. Singer Nilotpal Bora joined in thanking Pednekar for shining a light on the crisis.

The flood situation in Assam has seen some improvement, with water levels receding, yet concerns remain high as the state continues to address the needs of those affected. The government has initiated a variety of relief efforts, including the distribution of essential items such as Mekhela Chadors for women and T-shirts for children, as part of a broader flood relief plan.

Tragically, the toll from the flooding has risen to 66, underscoring the severity of the situation. Local and national organizations are mobilizing to aid in recovery efforts and provide necessary resources.
