Bihar Chief Minister Advocates for Inclusion of Maithili in CBSE Curriculum to Strengthen Cultural Roots for Future Generations

BJP leader and Member of Parliament representing the Darbhanga constituency, Gopal Ji Thakur, recently met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi. During this meeting, Thakur advocated for the inclusion of the Maithili language as a subject in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.

The plea for Maithilis inclusion underscores the importance of regional languages in preserving cultural heritage and promoting linguistic diversity within the Indian educational framework. Maithili is one of the recognized languages on the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution and has a rich literary tradition.

This request aligns with the broader discussions on enhancing the representation of regional languages in school curricula, as part of the governments efforts to foster greater inclusivity in education. The move could benefit numerous students across Bihar and other regions where Maithili is spoken, potentially supporting both academic and cultural preservation.
