BMTC Introduces Independent External Monitoring for Smart Ticketing System Following Deployment of 11,000 ETMs
In March 2023, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) initiated the rollout of a fully integrated digital ticketing system, marking a significant step towards the modernization of its services. This new system aims to enhance the commuter experience by allowing passengers to purchase and manage tickets through a digital platform, thereby streamlining the process and reducing the need for physical cash transactions.
The digital ticketing system includes features such as mobile app support, QR code scanning, and the option for contactless payments, catering to the increasing demand for tech-savvy transportation solutions. This initiative aligns with global trends in public transport and is part of the BMTCs broader strategy to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and promote sustainable transportation practices in the city of Bangalore.
The BMTCs modernization efforts also include upgrading its fleet, improving service reliability, and implementing real-time tracking of buses, contributing to enhanced overall service delivery for commuters. As the project progresses, the BMTC aims to gather user feedback to further refine the system and ensure it meets the needs of its diverse passenger base.
