BRICS Summit 2026: Highlights from the Final Day of Bilateral Meetings and Discussions

On the concluding day of the BRICS Summit 2026 held in New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a series of bilateral talks with leaders from Kazakhstan, Egypt, and the Philippines. These discussions are part of efforts to strengthen international relationships within the BRICS framework, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with the invitee nations.

During the summit, PM Modi focused on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, regional security, and sustainable development. Notably, he met with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who highlighted that trade turnover between Kazakhstan and BRICS countries has reached approximately USD 72 billion. This figure reflects the growing economic ties within the group.

In addition to talks with Tokayev, PM Modis discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. aimed at expanding trade relations and exploring collaborative efforts on various fronts, including technology and renewable energy.

Moreover, the summit also witnessed some domestic political discourse, as leaders from the opposition and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in a debate surrounding the summits menu and its relevance to the matters discussed during high-level meetings.

The BRICS Summit serves as a crucial platform for emerging economies to voice their perspectives on global issues and pursue cooperative strategies to tackle challenges such as climate change, economic stability, and geopolitical tensions.

As nations like Bahrain engaged in the summit, notable attendees included Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev and Bahrains Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, reflecting the growing inclusivity and reach of BRICS in international diplomacy.

The outcomes of the summit present opportunities for member countries to collaborate more effectively in addressing shared challenges and fostering economic growth in their regions.
