BRS Criticizes Government Over Alleged Unofficial Restrictions on Urea Sales

**Harish Rao Addresses Urea Shortage Affecting Farmers of Sugarcane, Orchards, and Vegetables**

Hyderabad – Harish Rao, the states Agriculture Minister, has highlighted an ongoing urea shortage that is impacting farmers cultivating sugarcane, fruit orchards, and various vegetables.

During a recent press conference, Rao expressed concern over the difficulties faced by these farmers due to the limited availability of urea, which is a crucial fertilizer for enhancing crop yield. He emphasized that the situation could lead to potential losses in agricultural output as farmers rely heavily on urea to maintain healthy crops and meet market demands.

In response to the crisis, the state government is reportedly exploring measures to address the shortage, which has been partly attributed to supply chain disruptions and increased demand during the current planting season. Officials are working in coordination with fertilizer manufacturers to ensure that urea supplies are replenished in a timely manner.

Farmers have raised alarm regarding the adverse effects of the shortage, particularly for crops that require nitrogen-rich fertilizers for optimal growth. In addition to urea, stakeholders in the agriculture sector are advocating for the timely distribution of other essential nutrients to mitigate the effects of this crisis.

Rao assured the agricultural community that the government is committed to resolving the issue and will prioritize efforts to secure adequate fertilizer supplies to support local farmers. Efforts to implement alternative agricultural practices and promote soil health are also being discussed as long-term solutions to reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers.

As the agricultural sector plays a vital role in the state’s economy, maintaining a stable supply of essential inputs like urea is crucial for sustaining farmers livelihoods and ensuring food security.
