Cabinet Approves Upgrade of Nagpur International Airport
The Civil Aviation Ministry has announced an extension of the lease period for the Nagpur International Airport, which will now align with the 30-year concession period granted to GMR Nagpur International Airport Ltd. This extension is expected to facilitate a more streamlined management and operational framework for the airport, which has been playing a vital role in enhancing regional air connectivity.
The decision to extend the lease is part of the broader efforts by the Ministry to promote infrastructure development and improve passenger services. GMR Nagpur International Airport is strategically located and serves as an important hub for domestic and international flights, contributing to economic growth in the region. The airport is also poised to benefit from ongoing infrastructural developments and investments aimed at increasing capacity and efficiency.
This extension is significant as it provides GMR with a longer-term operational framework, while also ensuring that the airports development aligns with national aviation policies and standards.
