CBSE Schools in Nagaland Request Linguistic Exemption Under Three-Language Policy from Education Minister

In a recent correspondence, principals from 19 schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Nagaland have expressed significant concerns regarding the implementation of the R3 language framework. This initiative mandates the introduction of a compulsory third language for students starting from Class 6.

The R3 language framework aims to enhance linguistic diversity and promote multilingual education among students. However, the principals have raised valid points regarding potential challenges in execution, such as resource availability, teacher training, and the ability to meet the varied linguistic backgrounds of students in the region.

The concerns come in light of the policys introduction amid ongoing discussions about educational reforms in India. Stakeholders are encouraged to consider these issues as they plan for the rollout of the framework to ensure that it meets the educational needs of all students effectively. Further deliberations between educational authorities and school leaders may help address these hurdles and facilitate smoother implementation.
