Census Enumerators Identification Can Be Verified via QR Code

Lalit Jain, the Director of Census Operations (DCO) in Haryana, has addressed the concerns raised by residents of high-rise apartment complexes regarding the entry of census enumerators. In light of reports that some residents are hesitant to allow these officials access to their buildings, Jain emphasized the importance of the census process for accurate demographic data collection.

The census, which is conducted every ten years, plays a critical role in shaping resource allocation, policy-making, and community services. Jain reassured residents that enumerators are trained professionals tasked with ensuring the confidentiality and safety of the information collected. He urged cooperation from all residents to facilitate this essential national exercise, which helps in planning for various socio-economic needs in the region.

Jain’s statement comes as the Census of India prepares to conduct its 2021 census in the State, a significant event that has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He encouraged residents to understand the relevance of the census in fostering community development and enhancing local governance.
