Chief Minister Directs Districts to Strengthen Dengue Control and Monsoon Preparedness in 10 Tamil Nadu Districts

In response to increasing concerns about dengue fever and the impending monsoon season, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, has directed local authorities across ten districts to enhance their control measures against dengue and ensure preparedness for monsoon-related challenges.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of proactive steps to mitigate the spread of dengue, particularly as the rainy season can create breeding grounds for mosquitoes. He urged district officials to engage in public awareness campaigns about preventing mosquito bites and maintaining sanitation. The focus will also be on effective waste management and the elimination of stagnant water, which is critical in reducing mosquito populations.

The districts identified for intensified efforts include Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai, among others known for previous outbreaks of the disease. Health department teams are expected to conduct inspections and provide necessary medical resources to frontline workers. Additionally, the government is prioritizing vaccination campaigns where appropriate to protect vulnerable populations.

The Chief Ministers directions come amid a global rise in mosquito-borne diseases, raising added urgency for state-level health measures. Authorities are coordinating with local health officials to monitor the situation closely as they prepare for the monsoon season, which typically spans from June to September in Tamil Nadu.
