CISF to Provide Security at Additional Five Prisons in Jammu and Kashmir

The Indian government is moving forward with significant enhancements to the countrys correctional facilities. A new high-security prison is set to be constructed in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at improving security and accommodating the increasing need for higher security measures within the correctional system. In addition to the Kathua facility, plans are underway to establish four new district jails, which will help alleviate overcrowding in existing prisons and ensure better management of inmates.

Furthermore, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is implementing advanced technological upgrades across Central jails. This includes the installation of artificial intelligence-enabled CCTV systems and state-of-the-art video analytics. These upgrades will facilitate real-time monitoring, enhancing the overall security and operational efficiency of these facilities.

The focus on technological advancements and new infrastructure reflects the governments commitment to modernizing the correctional system, promoting safer environments for both staff and inmates, and addressing the challenges of modern-day penitentiaries.
