Citi: Need for Improved Communication of Indias AI Strengths
Citis Vis Raghavan has indicated that foreign direct investment (FDI) in India is currently subdued, attributing this trend to the nations dependency on energy resources and uncertainties surrounding artificial intelligence (AI). While Raghavan acknowledges the robust domestic sentiment and optimism regarding the Indian economy, he stresses the importance of clearly defining Indias role in the worldwide AI-driven economy.
Raghavan highlighted Indias competitive cost advantages in computing power, which presents a significant opportunity for the country to establish itself as a global hub for AI innovation and development. He suggests that the government and industry stakeholders must collaborate to effectively communicate these strengths to attract international investments and bolster the nation’s position in the global market.
As of October 2023, India has been making strides in the technology sector, with various initiatives aimed at promoting AI research and application across different industries. The government, through its Digital India campaign, is also focusing on enhancing infrastructure and digital literacy to support these advancements. However, addressing energy dependency and formulating a strategic direction for AI is crucial to enhance investor confidence and promote sustainable growth in the sector.
