Commerce Minister Reports India-Oman FTA Set to Begin on June 1, While Chile Agreement Faces Challenges
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman was officially signed in December 2025. This agreement aims to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the two nations by reducing tariffs, facilitating trade in goods and services, and promoting greater economic cooperation.
The CEPA is expected to significantly benefit key sectors, including agriculture, textiles, and information technology, providing a framework to boost economic ties. The agreement aligns with India’s broader strategy to strengthen its economic focus on the Gulf region, which is a vital area for trade partners.
India is one of Oman’s largest trading partners, with trade relations dating back several decades. The signing of this agreement is anticipated to bolster investment flows and create job opportunities, supporting both economies in their post-pandemic recovery efforts.
