Congress Launches Padayatra from Karnatakas Shikaripura Constituency
The Indian National Congress has commenced its second phase of the Bharat Jodo Yatra with a padyatra from the Shikaripura constituency, which is represented by the Karnataka BJP chief, Nalin Kumar Kateel. The initiative aims to reinforce the partys presence and outreach in the region ahead of the upcoming elections.
The padyatra began in Karnataka, a significant state in Indian politics, as the Congress party seeks to mobilize support and engage with local communities. The original Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was initiated in 2022 and involved a long march across various states to promote unity and address social issues.
This new phase, dubbed Bharat Jodo 2.0, is expected to cover key constituencies in Karnataka, where the Congress party is aiming to strengthen its base and challenge the ruling BJP ahead of crucial state and national elections in 2024. Congress leaders have articulated that the padyatra will focus on issues like economic inequality, social justice, and civil rights, appealing to the diverse voter base in the region.
The Karnataka assembly elections are scheduled to take place in 2024, and this strategic move is part of Congresss broader effort to regain ground lost in previous electoral contests.
