Congress Advocates for Expedited Judicial Inquiry into Ram Mandir Donation Controversy
Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, has criticized the ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), labeling it a “farce.” Rai alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are responsible for what he termed “organized plunder” at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site has been a focal point of religious and political contention in India, particularly following the Supreme Courts 2019 verdict that allowed the construction of a Ram temple at the site, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram. The temple construction has mobilized significant political support for the BJP, while prompting criticism from various opposition parties, including Congress.
Rais comments come amid increasing tensions between opposition parties and the ruling BJP, as they continue to question the transparency and motives behind the SITs investigation. The probe was initiated to address concerns regarding alleged irregularities and financial mismanagement surrounding the temples development. As the situation unfolds, the Congress party is expected to ramp up its criticism of the BJPs handling of religious and cultural heritage issues.
